The Rhode Island State Police announce that members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force have arrested a Department of Corrections, Correctional Officer for Electronically Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor.
Thomas P. Nolan, age 56, of 2198 Elmwood Avenue, Warwick, Rhode Island was arrested for two (2) counts of Electronically Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor. The arrest stemmed from an investigation by members of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
An individual later identified as Nolan engaged in a series of communications with a person whom he believed to be a 14-year-old male. The conversation became sexually explicit and Nolan allegedly electronically disseminated indecent material to a person whom he believed to be a 14-year-old male, according to the RI State Police.GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE SI ....

Billings man admits to receiving child pornography


BILLINGS - A Billings man accused of knowingly receiving and approving of sexually explicit videos from a minor on Wednesday admitted to receiving child pornography, Acting U.S Attorney Leif Johnson said.
Brandon Frank Stricker, 47, pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography. Stricker faces a minimum mandatory five to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to life of supervised release. Under the terms of a plea agreement, if accepted by the court, Stricker will be sentenced to between seven years and 20 years in prison.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Cavan presided. Stricker was released pending sentencing, which was set for June 16 before U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen. ....

State police arrested 114 child internet predators in 2020


FRANKFORT — The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch says 2020 was a busy year for them, as they responded to over 3,000 cybercrime tips, leading to 707 completed investigations resulting in 114 arrests of child internet predators.
While the investigative unit handles a variety of cybercrimes, they partner with the Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to protect the most vulnerable victims, Kentucky’s children. The ICAC Task Force, which includes several law enforcement agencies in the state, has received 3,137 cybercrime tips so far this year.
“I want to thank the dedicated detectives and staff of the KSP Electronic Crime Branch and the law enforcement agencies on the ICAC Task Force for being a member of Team Kentucky,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. “The work they do day in and day out is hard, tough and at times can be emotionally draining, but they do important work for Kentucky’s youth to help provide a better and safer ....
