RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Governor Ralph Northam has selected Virginia State University for a new initiative for the STEM teacher shortage in the commonwealth. The STEM program has received $1 million.
HBCUTeach is a national initiative to recruit undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors at Historically Black Colleges and Universities to prepare students to become teachers. VSU is among the first HBCUs to implement the HBCUTeach program.
VSU students will be able to receive their secondary teaching certifications while also completing a STEM major without additional cost or increasing the number of semesters they spend in college. ....

Islamabad: A leading Pakistani engineering university is set to introduce a Turkish language learning programme for students.
The NED University of Engineering and Technology and Turkey’s Maarif Foundation inked an agreement in this regard.
The Turkish agency will assist the university in conducting the language course, according to Ahmet Sami Demir, Maarif Foundation’s Karachi coordinator.
The two sides will also carry out cultural and educational exchange programmes.
The agreement was signed by Professor Birol Akgun, the president of the Maarif Foundation, and Noman Ahmed, the dean of NED University’s Architecture and Management Sciences Department. ....
