So, how is your Vaccine Utsav going? I can only base my opinion on limited evidence, but I get the distinct feeling that there is much less utsah for this Utsav than there was for the thaali-banging at the start of the pandemic.

It would be nice for each one of us to help vaccinate one other person. But at a time when it is hard enough for us to even vaccinate ourselves, this remains a forlorn hope.

Like Sanjay Gandhi’s Emergency-era proclamations, which the Utsav instructions clearly echo (Sanjay said Each One, Teach One; it was a lot like Each One, Vaccinate One and all the other Utsav slogans), all this sounds better in a speech than it does on the ground.

Bounty Killer donated 40 computer tablets to his former school, Seaview Gardens Primary School, on April 15.
The donations were made through the dancehall singer’s Bounty Killer Foundation and his Each One, Teach One initiative. The initiative’s goal is to assist students with online learning as schools were forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Killer said the gift was an idea from a friend.
“It’s all on the behalf from a great friend of mine… She wanted me to select a school and the first school which came to my mind is the Seaview Gardens Primary School,” the “Fed Up” singer said.

“That is where I come from. An almost forgotten and socially degraded community where youth don't often get a lot of opportunities," says SU graduate Clint Higgins.
He received his Master's Degree in Development Finance from the Stellenbosch University Business School this week.
Growing up in Tafelsig in Mitchells Plain, Clint has had first-hand experience of the path you could find yourself on in the absence of a proper role model or guidance. It was this experience that led him to start the non-governmental organisation, Each One Teach One. This NGO aims to provide youth in his community with the crucial guidance they need to reach their full potential.
