Architect Renée Daoust and her team say they're considering a lawsuit to get what they argue is rightfully theirs: the $3.5 million contract to design and build a monument to commemorate Canada's mission in Afghanistan.
Officials at Veterans Affairs (VAC) feared that their decision to overrule the government's handpicked jury on a proposed design for the Afghan war memorial would be met with a "mixed reaction" that could "negatively affect the families of the fallen," says an internal department memo obtained by CBC/Radio-Canada.
The monument is meant to ‘pay tribute to the commitment and sacrifice of Canadians in helping to rebuild Afghanistan,’ according to its vision statement
