Townend Challenge riders remember Christian and Niggy
LOTS of cyclists braved bad weather and took part in the 10th Team Townend cycle sportive at the weekend - in memory of two much-loved Cockermouth brothers. The popular event had been held every year - pre Covid - following the deaths of Christian, 29, and Niggy, 21, Townend, who died in a road crash whilst out cycling in 2010. Last year's special anniversary event had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic. The event is organised, marshalled and catered for by a hardworking team of family and friends.
