India News: Tensions are high in Haryana's Hisar after police fired tear gas shells at farmers who were holding a panchayat in Khedi Chopta area to discuss the demands they have made to the Centre, including minimum support price.
A confrontation between security forces and women protesters in Imphal on Tuesday led to tear gas shells being fired to quell the protest. The protesters demanded the release of six people arrested in connection with a mob attack and arms loot in the Indian Reserve Battalion post. Two people were injured. The incident occurred on February 15, 2024, when a mob attacked two posts of the Indian Reserve Battalion, killing one and injuring two others.
India News: Tear gas shells were fired by Haryana security personnel after some young farmers were heading towards the multi-layered barricades at the Shambhu border point at Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday.
Young farmers in Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the Centre s proposal for procurement of pulses, maize, and cotton at the MSP for five years. They have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjab s border with Haryana since February 13. The farmers are demanding legal guarantees for MSP and farm loan waivers.
