'Sharenting began as soon as social media did… but unease around it has grown'
As summer ends, the images on my social media feed change radically. Children cartwheeling on sun-drenched beaches are replaced by those same kids standing on doorsteps in box-fresh blazers and shoes whose laces haven’t yet frayed. Sharing pictures of the first day of school has become such an established ritual that many in my circle apologise if they are late posting them or, even worse, fail to do so at all.
