North Georgia Technical College has named Leslie McFarlin as the school’s new vice president of economic development.
McFarlin, of Carnesville, has served as dean of academic affairs for the industrial technology, transportation, and public service programs at NGTC since 2018. She has been employed by the college since 2007, serving in various roles as a math instructor, Quality Enhancement Plan coordinator, and academic dean of general education, learning support, and personal services.
In 2013, McFarlin was awarded the Technical College System of Georgia’s Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction for NGTC and was the state runner-up for the entire college system. ....

In 2019, inappropriate speed was present in 6,049 road accidents, 8% of the total. In addition, 298 of them had fatalities, which represents 23% of all accidents. These data show that driving too fast continues to cause many casualties on the road.

The generic maximum speed limits are set out in article 48 of the General Traffic Regulations: 120 kilometres per hour on motorways and 90 on conventional roads for cars and motorcycles (the latter came into force in January 2019). For buses, trucks, and other vehicles the limits are lower.
However, as explained by the General Directorate of Roads of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA), it is not possible to travel at the maximum speed in all sections of a road. Casey Corbett named Instructor of the Year at Ogeechee Technical College

Fish and Wildlife Management Instructor Casey Corbett was recently named Instructor of the Year for Ogeechee Technical College.
Corbett was named the recipient of the 2021 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction at the annual spring faculty and staff meeting.
“I work at a college full of amazing people, and I think the people are what make OTC such a wonderful place,” Corbett said. “I am incredibly honored to be named this year’s Instructor of the Year and I know that I have very big shoes to fill. I hope in the year to come that I can represent OTC well and be a solid advocate for technical education.” ....
