A software engineer (35) lost Rs 16 lakh in an online job fraud after falling for the bait of high returns on subscribing and liking videos. The fraudsters posed as employees of a media company and offered him a part-time job. The victim transferred the money to different bank accounts before realizing he had been duped. The matter has been reported to the police.
Ludhiana police commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that Kaushik was arrested after a case was registered against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion.
The top cop added that Kaushik was arrested after the local court issued a non-bailable warrant against him. “A team was sent to Uttar Pradesh and he was arrested after informing local police station,” said Chahal.
