"Design and development of 3D printed fins integrated into an instrumen" by Pawel Krzyzanowski

Surfing is a highly competitive sport, to which additive manufacturing technology can be applied to develop new solutions to improve knowledge. The main focus of this study was to design, prototype and test 3D printed surfboard fins with incorporated sensors interfaced with an instrumented surfboard prototype. Specific aim 1 (customisation of a 3D printer in order to 3D print with carbon fibre composites) was addressed by changing the nozzle, extruder, motherboard, stepper drivers, heat bed surface, and introduction of the dry box to the Creality CR-10S 3D printer. Introduced modifications resulted in successful 3D printing using abrasive and hygroscopic filament materials. Specific aim 2 (3D printing of model samples and instrumented fins) was achieved by using a customised 3D printer to fabricate 101 rectangular samples and six instrumented fins. The surfboard fin was designed in CAD and inspired by Futures T1 Twin HC (Futures Fins). Two sensors were incorporated into the fin. The fi ....

"Space use and daily movement patterns in an arid zone agamid lizard" by Adam Bernich, Kimberly Maute et al.

Context: Quantifying the space use and movement patterns of animals is important to understand other aspects of a species ecology, such as habitat use and social systems. However, basic data on space use and movement patterns, and how they are influenced by biotic or abiotic factors, are lacking for many species. Aims: We identified the space use and movement patterns of the central bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps), and assessed how external factors (environmental conditions) and internal factors (sex and morphology) shape these patterns. Methods: We tracked 36 P. vitticeps individuals over three seasons from 2017 to 2018. Animals carried tags with a Global Positioning Systems (GPS) device to collect spatial data and an accelerometer to collect movement data in far western New South Wales, Australia. Measurements of body morphology were taken for each individual and ambient temperatures were recorded. Space use was analysed by calculating minimum convex polygons (MCPs) and kernel dens ....

Ufo s in decades, almost a year after an intelligence report provided few answers as to what military pilots have encountered in more than 140 incidents. joining us now to discuss, the former director of the advanced aerospace threat identification program, unpublicized u.s. government program started in 2007 committed to investigation of ufos. you had access to the ufo data, you interviewed military officials that encounter them on an almost daily basis. are they right to think of it as a threat to national security? yjake, great question. with all of the military eyewitness testimony in recent years along with videos, telemetry and radar data, optical data, it paints a convincing picture to members of congress that this is a national security issue. and what we saw today really is ....
