On Monday, in a ceremony that included his family, members of the California State Senate and Assembly, Gov. Gavin Newsom and elected officials, past legislative leaders, and members of the North Coast communities he represents, Senator Mike McGuire (D-North Coast) was sworn in as President pro Tempore of the California State Senate. After thanking the first responders who are helping Californians up and down the state facing the worst storm of the year, Pro Tem McGuire said in his remarks:
