A summer of devastating wildfires that burned huge swaths of the N.W.T. and forced countless communities across the country to evacuate has some experts questioning whether Canada is equipped for hotter, more intense fire seasons.
A fuel tank of approximately 5,000 liters in volume was found floating on the Mackenzie River just south of Fort Simpson, N.W.T. One resident said the tank seemed empty but a Dehcho Guardian said the cylinder did smell of fuel.
A pilot program at the Yellowknife jail is teaching inmates new land-based skills and creating a space to connect with memories of family and heritage. "To see something like this happening is good for your mind," says one inmate.

The Northwest Territories Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) is investigating after complaints of caribou carcasses found along the ice road to the Diavik Diamond Mine.
Officers with ENR say they can t disclose the specifics of the investigation but are looking for the public s help to catch the culprits.
Adrian Lizotte, wildlife and environment manager for the department in the North Slave region, has been working along the ice road this winter.
