I was born at a time when black children were not allowed to attend public schools. i started my education in a coloured school. there were no high schools for black kids when my dad was a teenager and it took an intervention of law — lawyers coming in and enforcing supreme court rulings that ban that kind of racial segregation, and because it was mandated from the outside, you know, i got to get a high school degree, i got to go to college, i got to go to law school, but it didn't reflect real transformation in the society. we have had transformation over the last 40, 50 years. you see thin...
