Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is going to review the recent Poonch's ambush which killed four soldiers last week. He arrived in Jammu and Kashmir accompanied by Army Chief General Manoj Pande, and was received by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and General Officer Commanding-in-chief, northern command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi at the technical airport.

Over the past three years, the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a sudden spurt in militant activities, starting with the recovery of sticky bombs in February 2021 in Samba followed by drone attack on Indian Air Force's Jammu base in June that year, government insiders said.
The families of the victims alleged that the deceased and some other people were picked up by the army from their homes in Topa Peer village in Bafliaz area of Poonch district on Friday morning, and in the afternoon they were informed about their death.
