Global Laser Enrichment has decided not to submit a proposal in response to a US Department of Energy request for the acquisition of high-assay low-enriched uranium enrichment, its 51%-owner Silex Systems has announced. The company has also received regulatory approval to load uranium hexafluoride for the start of testing to demonstrate the technology it plans to use in its enrichment facility at Paducah in Kentucky.

The owners of the Global Laser Enrichment joint venture have agreed to double project expenditures in 2024 to accelerate demonstration of the SILEX laser enrichment technology at its Test Loop pilot facility in the USA this year.

Modules developed by Australian firm Silex Systems will now be shipped to the US for a pilot demonstration.

The first full-scale laser system module developed by Silex Systems Ltd for deployment in Global Laser Enrichment's commercial pilot demonstration facility has successfully completed eight months of testing in Australia. The module will now be shipped to the USA for installation at GLE's facility.
