Extra trains provided to aid vaccine rollout at Newbury Racecourse

Extra trains provided to aid vaccine rollout at Newbury Racecourse
Additional services set to operate from February 8
Charlie Masters
  );
Great Western Rail (GWR) has announced it is putting on 17 additional trains to make daily stops at Newbury Racecourse, to bolster the vaccine rollout there.
The additional station stops on trains between Paddington and Bedwyn will, from February 8, supplement timetabled services between Newbury and Reading.
They are intended for people travelling to the racecourse for their jabs.
In addition, GWR has donated 40 bags of gritting salt to the vaccination centre to prevent slips and trips among staff and users. This is in anticipation of cold weather over the coming months.

Thatcham town councillors question signal response

Thatcham town councillors question signal response
Councillors call for more pressure on Network Rail to resolve traffic congestion at barrier
John Herring
  );
Thatcham councillors have asked for pressure to be applied on resolving barrier downtime at the level crossing.
Town councillors met with GWR and Network Rail in October to draw up action points for the station and level crossing.
Long barrier closure times were listed, with the crossing often closed for three trains to pass and a solution of relocating the trip points to reduce the duration was proposed.
Network Rail responded saying that it would not be a viable option.
