Bellissimo is the zine that wants to put fun and magic back into mags

For
SELF PUBLISHED they drew on the vibrant energy of teen mags, their chaotic colour schemes and cheesy language. “We are obsessed with magazines from the past and we do a lot of research,” says Ruberto. “For this, we wanted to pay tribute to 90s teen magazines. In Italy, we have a really cool one. We decided to use a kind of editorial language that at least in Italy was really, really famous and really, really popular. Throughout the years it became a little bit naff, a bit cheesy, but we love it. We made sure it has the fun sides that we will always want to portray in our project. And that was provided by the photo novel containing this almost ridiculous story between teenagers.”

Radio Manchester. Christmas has time for family friends and enjoying the finer a big arena tour and I asked David where the idea to such an ambitious talk came from well it was the idea really that this this story is on a scale because it's about a grandpa and grandson having adventures together the grandpa was a World War 2 fighter race and he's now become confused me thinks he's back in World War 2 and what he wants to do is steal a Spitfire airplane from the Imperial War Museum so we really wanted the show to have as much scale as possible and to do our sort of worried if it was just going to be sourced. One sat in the chair with the arms out pretending that they're flying I felt like really want to do a show which just had an epic sense about it so we're going to have a real life spit fire where there's a real life world war one tank and we have Nigel planer who's one of my comedy heroes he played Neil in the young ones he's playing grandpa I wanted to create a really spectacular family show and David not easy to source a life so he spit fire in tank do people think you are starting a revolution it's not the sort of thing you can go on e Bay for is it no. Way you can make you can make them you can make them so we have built them and and I like kind of just really excited you know Sooners the designers and director was putting the images together and you can see a source Spitfire flying around the arena and thought this is going to be amazing 2nd imagine you're in a rehearsal space at the moment but until he gets that 1st arena when you're in burning in which is where it starts I don't suppose you'll really get to see the scale of this really you know and then the amazing they will be experiencing the story with you know an audience which you which is the most amazing thing as an author because you feel like a magician then looking around and seeing everyone's responses but but I'm really I'm really thrilled and I'm really glad this is taken to you know that this is a unique production I've had to productions of my books before them super proud of but this is really something different because of the scale of it and I think the story really deserves it there was a fantastic t.v. Adaptation a couple of years back with Tom Courtney is Grandpa and Jennifer Saunders she played the matron of the o. People and it was a bit inspired actually by a real story of a World War 2 soldier who escaped from an old people's home to join his old comrades in Normandy because they were having a celebration and you remember this story because it was it was in the news a bit. It was and it really that was that gave me the idea for the story and I thought I could hopefully combine something funny which other. This came from an 0 people home is if it was a prisoner of war camp I thought that could be humorous with something quite serious which is a grandpa lose losing his memory which is always something that does affect lots of kids also kids have grandparents who have become computers and it can be quite difficult thing for them but I thought so a kid is more likely to be able to interact with someone. Probably than a grown up because kids live in the world of imagination and if someone's kind of you know they've drifted back into into their imaginations Somehow I thought like another that could be a special relationship here between the ground. There's more to come from. The program between. The. Radio Manchester you know I think I found the place that I want to spend Christmas based He's incredible I did mention a little bit earlier we were outside the new spa we are now in the mood and it's be you simply decorated there are lights everywhere. Ferns there is an Alpine view and as you can imagine this time of day when the 2 people are indulging get a beverage or 2 the man that owns this is Stanley who is for months and he's had these for 40 years and I can imagine his traveled all over with it with his also is Gilbert's Gilbert's owns the fun house built to go but in a couple of overs time Stanley thank you for inviting us into the new spot that you see is great isn't it thank you very much. We do try our best to entertain the public when they come in here because all the rides are free the attractions are great with the circus the ice rink and this is one place of refuge where you can sit down rest and relax with the family hopefully have a glass of wine in one of our little boats and perhaps have a devil of lager out so we'll talk about your boots in a couple of moments to know I love about this place is all the attention to detail mean all the little things that you got on the walls all of the year the plates and the pictures and so on these just over the years they have been. It's a quest of love really in the main you see something in a shop you think that will go in the bar so you buy it but the man. Day the of the bar is really the my wife but she's not here today because she does the interior design and. I do the manufacturing in the looking after the customers but Debbie my wife does all the interior so you're here obviously for the next few weeks where you the rest of the year. Basically find is that most large agricultural shows County shows their shows. The International Air Show at Fairford. We do a lot of the trip fests with promotions so it's any of the big really big events that you see the really big one that we love to be at is a man just because of market. But we're here in the event city this year but we do believe this event is moving next year to a new venue it's interesting this isn't it because you were saying that it's the case that you have the balls to actually take of the space in Manchester and they don't allow you to go actually set up that yeah it's a weird set of them got there because it is traditionally all the German. People that come over the bars nothing else and the there's not a lot of English traders in the Manchester area you know which seems a little bit strange when we're in Manchester company you know our offices are in Cheatham hill I live in Mountain up a memorandum rates in Manchester and anyway that's life but you've chosen a good place here because I can imagine over the next few weeks we're going to be ready it's good to see already you're so busy Can I talk about your groups this isn't the boots that you're wearing these are the boots that you serve your drinks in which are incredible I've just had the. Chocolate. She'll be singing All I Want For Christmas Is You by 12 o'clock after a couple of drinks of that absolutely. Great idea that come from. We had those boots made a manufactured in China my wife and I Debbie as I mentioned earlier we flew to China for trade show and we seen the boats there and we contacted a chinese supplier and if you look at the boat it's got our. Name our busy. His name on it it's got in an address on there and they're a great little novelty and as well as as well as serving drinks in them or Mendis amount to people because it's a nice little on some of the Christmas Tree of the Assad boat and they're really nice moment over Christmas I love them let's talk a mention that Gilbert lives in Cheatham Hill he owns the phone house I came on Thursday night with my 2 nephews bill but I lost the annual fund house for about an hour it was great I could do with all of them in the back of the alligator you build it yourself yeah building Michel for 30 years ago what is the secret to a good food helps a lot of moving parts. Of the state thank you and they pay to come in and the criminals say thank you here you know you've cracked it so if you go into the house basically you've got to go up some do big stairs which I've mentioned to my 5 year old nephew about 3 hours to do trips. Up the steps there they've been here it. Roll is. All flaws Richard we've gone flip flop boards. I can imagine some parents who got a couple of coupons probably don't realize the floors move. You know the incredible thing about Gilbert's never talk about a huge but. Here is 787 still going strong children. What you can do when you retire. Wired several things I would love to do should we ask out what your television all you could become of. What you see that you love about this you'll be going to for many years 65 years is it yeah I was born in the job. They don't really know what are they gals on there bring everything we want we build bigger to go. On they want to build told several trailers row we want it as less. We joy the life. And the fact that you're both from Manchester this is a big community is it all of very big community yes yes. Well about 7 families. And we don't operate. Like. We don't operate in Manchester no more all of down yes yes but you're here for the next few weeks so it's a bit like home from home isn't it all I able bungalows here intreat to melt. Only a mile from. The Wall. Moving closer to us that's a really good relates to listen to lovely to see the to be got 2 great places in the phone house and thank you for the hot chocolate as well it's delicious lovely thank you very much and I go into conspiracy I'm a big 80 minutes away from. B.b.c. Radio traffic update David Williams on the way in a few minutes time 1st let's get you up to take the latest on the. Thanks Phil m 66 northbound lanes now reopened traffic written to normal after an accident just before junction one out womanly road at Rams bottom and 62 eastbound junction 8 no fuel for hate. Would services tough roads looking slow a round station and heading into town from Penn Kith Sankey ways looking very busy from pain controlled roundabouts see the pink tie around that said heading into town as you've been hearing with Phillips the winter fun land at event city expect delays on routes around the Trafford Center and that will be helped by shopping Chaffee as well London Northwestern revised service who g.t. Plan strike action it's been cancelled because of the short notice the amended timetable remains in place that means no 7. Between Houston and crew. And cancellations to. Strike action. Before you travel if you can a date is cool in 0161900. 80 . Please. Please please. Please please. Please. Just keep. Up the loop. Please. point symbol is going to be noisy Yeah because it's you know it's it's a plane taking off when there's a time when everything but I think if you could still cook you could go a little bit. But I think it's good you know I don't know about you but you know if you're lucky enough to be able to afford to go and see things you know but here Christmas and New Year it's good to get out of the house because you are actually there's a point where you just call look at each other any longer the call of the story of God and you just thinking let's go out and do something that is nice if you can do something together that's the nice thing about about that you know that period is normally there's lots of shows on normally over Christmas on there because you know people are looking for something to do indoors and and it's often the 1st time kids ever get to see anything live so. This will be great introduction and I hopefully I think the best things that are aimed at kids who go to work for the grown ups because the grown ups of course of the ones that decide you know what you're going to see and they and they're the ones that buy the ticket so I hate the idea that the you know the parents are bored and the kids are enjoying themselves so we want to make it but the parents are having as good a time not to my son to something recently on a motor say what it was but I actually fell asleep in Ok. Simon Cowley reading his memoirs. That he's never going to write but it wasn't out but it was it was a kind of superhero thing but I just I just fell asleep because it really was just for the kids this I think hopefully is going to be enjoyed by the grownups I wondered where this love of children's books come from I mean I think we're quite similar ages and I grew up on you know I used to love watching Jack and already with Kenneth Williams you know doing his Willy Wonka impressions and so on and that for me that was the book that always you know got my imagination getting with the ricin book or you know you don't know which you think led to this. Later in life well I always you know dollars the person that got me into reading because I read Charlie in the Chocolate Factory and loved it and I read more of his books and lots of other books too and but I also liked reading children's books as a grown up because I realize there's a lot that I've missed you know I either I was too young. Too old at the time to read them or you know they came out after I was sort of gone through childhood or I just you know I mean Peter Pan You think you know it because you've seen a movie of it but you haven't actually read it so I was reading quality children's books and really enjoying them and I just thought maybe I've got a story I thought this is the story of a boy going to school dressed as a girl I thought it's sort of I guess you know why you grow out of little bits and what we did quite a lot of dressing up. And. But I thought there was something I could do that I couldn't do in comedy sketches which was make it hard felt. Take the reader on an emotional journey and I was just in the but wasn't the 1st but was the boy in the dress it wasn't a huge commercial success but I was pleased with there and proud of it and I want to do more and that was like 12 years ago and says Wait I've had this all the Korea . Which is probably the biggest thing I've ever done as a children's author when I didn't set out 1st to be one because I couldn't really see beyond what we were trying to achieve with Little Britain which was to become you know television comedians I couldn't really think beyond that so it's an Please. I This. This. 26 minutes past 4 have you put the picked up a penguin No not the one the full islands penguin. So the 50 pence piece you know what happened sometimes I put these in it was a dish months out there at the beach it's Potter and well the folk lens has put out a 50 they've got a 50 pence piece with the Rockhopper penguin on it's the cutest thing I've ever seen it's the one with the spiky black hair and yellow sort of spiky black and yellow wig and he's balancing on a rock the coins a puti commemorative they can't be spent in the Falcons or in Britain but as for penguins on paper now desperately trying to hold them they've got the king pen bangle in the game to the mat is the melanic one which was right on the Rockhopper $7000.00 special 50 pence pieces featuring days and they were sold off for 13 pounds each How. They are now worth a lot more than that so if you find and you see. A penguin and it could make you a lot of money up to $3.00 to $400.00 times what they thought it was going to be so there you go you could have a couple of grands worth of the rock Penguin the 50 pence piece if you find one. David White's ministry. I remember in this particular wearing me bright. And said David you think the eighty's were bad with the mullet well in the ninety's I had the infamous curtain. And I was pretty dangerous because of my phone. The but. Don't You Forget About Me 28 minutes. If the radio cool. How could we forget about us and even for weeks could not say I found out on the $39.00 Western terrace of woodland they were temperate traffic lights and gas mains were the digging up the road and the slow traffic to row the 839 to the climate or and it's always slow there I'm afraid of the moment because of the gas mains were there as well butyl water and water road a monthly throat temperature a few lights and boat and you expect delays we don't have any problems reported at the airports the trains are running to time to the right places traffic slowing well on the time our bridge and there's around a 15 minute wait just the Tooth Fairy's running between 2 point one very helpful maintenance I'm Paula that if you've got a travel story we're missing you can call b.b.c. Radio on our way to white 101 and 3 noise breaking movie news this afternoon Dawn French has just tweeted that she's going to be starring in the brand new remake of death on the not with Kenneth Branagh of course now you remember the 1st one that came out a couple of years ago death on the Orient Express and he played her killed while ro with that ridiculous Tash it was clearly layered I love the film but I couldn't take my eyes off that Mistah she had to fight as. Possible to grow something that I do remember the scene where he had the Met over it he had a net in the night but I went out in the night sounds like another film so you have a. Little nuts over but it did it had 3 layers it was so distracting so now you're playing well we're not I can't tell you that but I can tell you is Rose Kenneth Branagh and it also stars Sophie or can you do who's brilliant Tom Bateman Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders So Brandt amongst many yes it's a huge cost so she's just tweeted with me in fact are you going to live it up large in Egypt dreamboat says and she just fabulous at it so I love I love that. Going to be quite funny then I wonder if you live the time by that because that was quite a criticism or. Something for your star she's very well you just like to thank you. Trying to shake it up ever so diary I can't keep up with. The. So far I've to stay off the news Samantha Joye also is a gorgeous lovely lady and an actress and the dial but the latest survey from Cats Protection reveals many positive effects that comes from owning cats from work issues stress eating helping children cope with bullying any problem is no problem for our lovely feline friends while Samantha Giles plays Bernie's in Emmerdale she's got 2 cats herself and she's passionate about them and this brand new cat came back campaign and I chatted catty talk did a little earlier than I do like dogs as well but I'm much more into cats and my lifestyle I couldn't have a dog at the moment and I was Cats are a little bit more low maintenance and while they are low maintenance but you have to really crave their love because if you go as you know if you're working and you come home they're like yeah well Ok you got to make it up to me now whereas dogs don't they just want you to love them yeah that's true actually I think a lot of fat cats have got such different personalities I mean all the cats that I've had throughout my lifetime they will give you slightly different things and my 2 Now you know I'd say my boy is a therapy cat he just relaxes you see so chilled I'd say Mike she kind of keeps me on my toes I can tell of things and she talks to me back she talks all the time and so I feel like I feel like I'm having a conversation with her but you are here to talk about the more than just a cat campaign why do you love this so much well I think that it's challenging people's perceptions about cats really and people always think that the very independent the very aloof they can be those things but actually the survey Cats Protection of shows how much more cats are to people makes them have a more positive effect on their mental health people that work from home 2 thirds of the owners who work from home said the Cat helps them. Feel less stressed less lonely. And around half of people do tell their secrets and talk to them but like I do so there's so much more you can get out of having a Kansan than what we 1st think both mine came from Cats Protection my big boy I had for 15 years my little girl I have a 7 but they both got cancer which is it's just heartbreaking and you just you fall apart don't you but I haven't been able to get another one yeah I just can't because I love them so much I think at the moment I need to just have a little bit of time to myself because they do they are more than just family they are all your children yes they are I mean we didn't wait that long after my my died because partly because I mean but Maggie would never never have replaced her you know it wasn't to replace her that I needed to do just that the house felt so. I couldn't bear it. And so we left about 3 months through quite quick but in no way did they ever replace her because she was a very very very special cat in these ones are just different with especially in their own ways so but you have to do it the right time if you don't yeah you do and I do miss coming in the door and doing that silly voice that I like maybe even up to you know that you know what she just did yeah you've got quite an interesting personality you you're a little bit psychic can you you know things happen oh well I don't know it comes and goes I wouldn't say I'm psychic I can usually get feelings when somebody is pregnant I can usually tell them you know a few occasions I've said to somebody you're pregnant on you and. I remember years ago when I was working on where the heart is they produces came up and we were in a public something and one of the producers came in and I whispered to her Are you pregnant and she said yes only you know but you know what that is really it's just. You know I get feelings about people but I think lots of us have that is probably I just listen to my instinct and in Jewish and quite a lot I think we tend to ignore that today but I think we should listen to it so do you check out about your pets and encourage people on Emmerdale to get pets and maybe love cats Yeah I do I mean I'm always always tweeting if anybody follows Manchester treating about the animals and putting pictures up of my 2 cats I just think they give you so much more than you give them really and there's such a joy and I think it's great if you've got children it's lovely to have cats when you've got children in the house and equally if you live alone I think the cat is such a great companion and finally bad news for us because you're moving on from Emmerdale and you've been aces been such a great character and I adore Emmerdale and I'm going to miss us so much thank you know I will miss everybody but I think you just have been thinking about it for a long time and I think as an actress you know I had to play all the roles that's what I joined for you know to play lots of roles so I've done that with 7 years can you believe it and it's flown but it's time to move on I'm afraid maybe you can go to the West End into cats. So I did that very good don't you have to isn't that musical Don't they thing you know you can sing surely go. Oh good you know I don't get enough of that I'm afraid. Very easy that's. What. We're. Seeing. So you. Can. See. If. We. Can see. What. You got something. See. The. B.b.c. Radio called One week out great to me and say this one we had the pilots of Como's Coast Guard rescue helicopter recount the story of the mission which is won him and his crew a life saving award the sea was pretty atrocious it was so 20 foot waves wind gusting over from 2 miles an hour the best we could you had no crowd around so you know around unpredictability of randomly from all the fishing boat was disappearing you can see it and then suddenly the person goes right off the table holding hands of it so the crew knew it was going to be a pretty interesting rescue the lives of 6 French fishermen was saved. For more real life stories of remarkable achievements in Comal join us every morning to start your day Julie and James that's breakfast. Radio.
