Taking cautious approach, some Lane County movie theaters to reopen Friday
Moviegoers, (cautiously) rejoice: Films will screen to limited audiences at Springfield s Cinemark 17 and Florence s City Lights Cinemas starting Friday, March 5.
The lifting of the concessions ban made the reopening decision easy for the Florence theater.
“We were definitely not reopening until the concession ban was lifted. That, for us, was a deal breaker,” City Lights co-owner Michael Falter said. “There is no way for us to make it with just admissions.
Broadway Metro owner Edward Schiessl said that the downtown Eugene venue will continue its private screenings, though the theater, like Bijou Art Cinemas and Regal Valley River Center & IMAX, does not plan to open to general audiences soon. ....
