Wisconsin State Farmer A father of a toddler who died after falling out of a skid steer could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted. Charges of second-degree reckless homicide were filed in Waupaca County Court against Cadem Schachtscheider, according to Waupaca County News. The 39 year old Town of St. Lawrence man is expected to make his initial court appearance on June 1. Schachtscheider told investigators that on April 5 he was using a skid steer to clear manure while the child sat on his lap. According to the criminal complaint, the child fell forward while Schachtscheider was lowering the bucket, pinning the child between the bucket boom and frame of the machine. The St. Lawrence man told investigators he had removed the front door from the machine. ....
Appleton Post-Crescent NEW HOLSTEIN - A 16-year-old horseback rider was seriously injured after a vehicle crashed into the horse in Calumet County. Deputies responded around 1:30 p.m. Friday to a report of a vehicle that struck a horse and its rider on County HH near Meyer Road, according to the Calumet County Sheriff s Office. The person was riding the horse eastbound on County HH when the horse went into the road and was struck, deputies said. The 16-year-old rider was flown via ThedaStar to Theda Clark Medical Center in critical condition. Neither the people in the vehicle nor the horse were injured, according to the sheriff s office. ....

The crash happened at County Highway HH near Meyer Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday. According to the Calumet County Sheriffâs Office, the 16-year-old was traveling eastbound on HH when the horse abruptly went into the roadway, and was then hit by the vehicle traveling westbound. The 16-year-old was transported to Theda Clark Medical Center via air by ThedaStar. The occupants inside the vehicle were not injured and the horse did not show initial signs of injury. ....
