Everybody thinks we need to learn the lessons from the Grenfell Tower fire. And responsibility for drawing up the right lessons rests primarily on the shoulders of one man sir Martin Moore Bick, a 70 year old former commercial lawyer and appeal courtjudge. He went to the site of the fire today and met residents, which sounds fine. But and its a big one he then downplayed expectations of what his inquiry might cover and how quickly it could report. Now, im well aware that the residents and the local people want a much broader investigation and i can fully understand why they would want that. Whether my inquiry is the right way in which to achieve that im more doubtful, and ill give that some thought and in due course make a recommendation, but there may be other ways in which that desire for an investigation can be satisfied otherwise than through the work im going to do. Many airlines have re opened flights to passengers affected by the ban. Donald trump has called the ruling ridiculous and has vowed to overturn it. Thats a battle that might end in the Supreme Court.
