REJECTION of plans for an opencast mine on the outskirts of Newcastle would be “a devastating blow” for a nearby brickmaker. Joe Hudson, chief executive officer of Ibstock Brick, has urged councillors to support proposals for the Banks Group’s surface mine at Dewley Hill ahead of a hearing later this week.
