There are ten days until Memorial Day and senior citizens on Maui are asking for help.

Donations of ti leaves, and finished ti-leaf lei, measuring 16 inches before tied, are urgently needed to pay tribute to 4,000 fallen veterans during Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 29 at Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao.

In honor of Lei Day, the second annual Waikōloa Lei Day Festival will be held on April 30 at several venues, with live music, lei making, craft fair, farmers market and keiki fun zone.

Across the Pacific, ti leaf leis are bestowed on loved ones as they reach life’s milestones.
