BUCYRUS - People connected with the Bucyrus community are being asked to weigh in on the future of the school district s mascot and nickname through an online survey. The survey, posted this week, is part of an effort by the Bucyrus City Schools Board of Education to get as much feedback from the community as possible, Superintendent Matt Chrispin said Wednesday. The survey had yielded some great feedback already, he said. I know the board is intent on sharing the results with everybody once they ve had an opportunity to digest and make sense of them, Chrispin said. Board members decided to explore whether it s time to change the district s mascot and nickname after being contacted by the National Congress of American Indians in July. Lycia Maddocks, the group s vice president of external affairs, spoke during a virtual board meeting in October. ....
