Prior to the start of racing on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Batavia Downs, members of the the local driver, trainer, groom and owner colony gathered trackside for a moment of silence to remember and honour their peers at Tioga Downs who lost their horses and their livelihoods as a result of a despicable act of arson that befell that track this past week.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — On an evening in which the victims of a horrific and cowardly act of arson at Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier of New York State were remembered by those running the show on Friday night, a more positive and uplifting ceremony took place at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
