Notre Dame used to have Irish Terriers as their mascots
The Notre Dame Leprechaun is once again brewing controversy, so here's a look back to a perhaps less "offensive" mascot - the Irish Terrier! Between 1924 and 1967, several Irish terriers served as Notre Dame's official mascot, overseeing a hugely impressive 12 National Championships.
