9 & 10 News March 3, 2021 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) th year in March with new ads that encourage people who smoke to quit. This year’s ads will include Michigan resident Geri. She started smoking menthol cigarettes at age 20. Now, she lives with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and relies on oxygen therapy to help her breathe. The four’s Xavier Hershovitz spoke with Geri and Dr. Karen Hacker, director of CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), about the campaign.
