The Thompson School Board heard detailed data from a public interest survey regarding a potential bond issue to be offered to voters during the November general election as board members seek to sharpen their messaging strategy and find a dollar figure palatable to residents within the school district’s boundaries.
Loveland City Council and the Thompson School District shared a joint meeting at Namaqua Elementary School Wednesday night to hear updates from staff from both the city and the school district on joint efforts and working groups between the two organizations.
“This is something that at our core we don’t want to do,” said Chief Operations Officer Todd Piccone Friday. “But this week we had to start rotating route cancellations. So for two weeks we have two routes that we’re not providing transportation for. So parents have to find another way to get their students there. That's the impact you’re starting to see.”
The Thompson School District is closing in on a potential bond issue to pitch to voters, with hopes to propose a new bond issue during the 2024 election in November.
On Friday, the district hosted a Response to School Violence Training at Mountain View High School. Purely on an opt-in basis, the training was a far more immersive look into the reality that now faces teachers.
