April 30, 2021 Tom Panetta is running for re-election.  I have worked with Tom and known him for more than 20 years.  As a friend and as a professional colleague he has always displayed the highest level of integrity.  From a technical and contractual point of view you can be sure that he is dedicated to the proper actions when dealing with the Lewes wastewater treatment plant.  In addressing the WWTP failure, I believe you can be confident that the Root Cause report was unbiased and technically correct.  If you believe, as I do, that “character and competence counts” in ou...

Friday, January 8, 2021 Seven candidates seek five seats in two Lewes elections Saturday, May 8. Voters would be hard-pressed to find a bad candidate, but elections are about making choices. For city council, with two seats on the line, incumbent Rob Morgan faces newcomers Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba. Morgan is seeking his fourth term. As an attorney, Morgan can pick apart any issue with a fine-tooth comb. Jones offers a straight-shooter approach; she’ll tell it like it is. During her career with the Smithsonian Institute, she gained a reputation as someone who could get the job done....

Steve Rogers April 29, 2021 One of the great things about Lewes is that exceptionally skilled and talented people retire here and want to serve. Tom Panetta is one of these people.  He does his homework on the issues in front of him and asks good questions before he makes decisions.  He works well with other people because he respects their opinions even if they differ from his. Tom Panetta is not in...

Bernard J. Clark III, MD April 23, 2021 I am writing in support of the candidacy of Tom Panetta, who is seeking re-election to the Lewes Board of Public Works.  Elected to his first term three years ago, Tom has since made several significant contributions to the board and the operation of the BPW. His background could not be better for this position.  He worked professionally in the power industry for over 20 years with a degree in nuclear engineering.  He has been a resident of Lewes for over 10 years. Together with his partner he restored a wonderful Victorian home to its form...

Friday, January 8, 2021 Four candidates are seeking three seats on the Lewes Board of Public Works in the Saturday, May 8 election. Each seat carries a three-year term. Running for seats are incumbents Robert Kennedy, Tom Panetta and Robert Kennedy, and challenger Richard Nichols. Each candidate was asked by the Cape Gazette to answer the same questions about topics important to ratepayers.  Biographical information Robert Kennedy: I was born and raised in Lewes, and resided in Lewes until I entered on active duty with the U.S. Army. After completing my military obligation, I returned to Le...
