have some kind of demon? >> yes, i think you have to have a bit of trouble in your life. if you don't, you're not very interesting. >> does it give you the torme tormented face you need? >> it gives you the drive. i'll tell you what, in my case, i was such a dummy at school and so ostracized and isolated, that i look back on it as a tremendous power. tremendous gift. it made me so angry. i thought, one day i just want to become famous and show them all. that's all i wanted, was to become famous and end up in hollywood, and i did. >> do you like being famous now? >> yeah, it's fun. it's fun. it gives me a good life. acting has been a great source of pleasure for me. i hope i'm generous. i hope i haven't forgotten where i come from. can i tell you a quick story? >> of course. >> i was working at the national theater with lawrence olivia, 40 years ago, and my mother and father came up to see it and it was a shakespeare play with olivier's wife. my father said -- he always made jokes. he said you don't hang around in theater doing shakespeare.
