HAMPTON – After a decade serving townspeople, Public Works Director Chris Jacobs is moving inland, assuming the job of town administrator in his hometown of Milton.
Jacobs submitted his resignation to Town Manager Jamie Sullivan this week effective April 23. Lauding Jacobs and his team at the DPW as one that provided “outstanding service to Hampton” over his time there, Sullivan thanked Jacobs for his ten years of service, six as director.
According to Sullivan, during Jacobs’ tenure he led several significant projects, such as the upgrade of the Church Street Pump Station, the installation of new sewer mains along Route 101 and the decommissioning of the sewer lines through the marsh. He also oversaw the rebuild of Drakeside Road and the removal of the railroad bridge, the rebuild of a portion of Route 1 and the preservation of the Old Mill Pond Gristmill to name a few.
HAMPTON – Lt. Tom Gudaitis retired this week from the Hampton Police Department, after spending the past 40 years of his life serving the community.
“For me to list every duty he’s been assigned during his years here would be impossible,” said Hampton Police Chief David Hobbs. “He’s just has a wealth of knowledge and a unique set of skills. He’s a true professional with a great attitude and work ethic, and he’s a tremendous leader.”
Gudaitis started at Hampton PD in 1981 as a part-time officer, while he was still in the Air Force after being stationed at Pease Air Force Base in Newington. When he retired from the military in 1989 after more than 13 years with the service, he decided he liked police work and became a full-time patrolman in Hampton.
