Submitted release LOXLEY, Alabama On Feb. 12 the Town of Loxley celebrated Arbor Day by holding a tree giveaway in Municipal Park. The event began at 8 a.m. with employees from the Public Works distributing a wide variety of trees including: river birch, pawpaw, pecan, chinquapin, green ash, ginkgo biloba, yellow poplar, wax myrtle, laurel oak, pin oak, bald cypress and Leyland cypress. Despite the cold and rainy weather many citizens from the community ventured out resulting in all trees to be gone before 11 a.m. According to Lisa Anderson, of the Beautification Department, 1,100 trees were passed out this year.
