The Nagaland Municipal Bill 2023 that includes 33 per cent reservation for women was passed unanimously in the Emergent Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Many powerful Naga organisations had earlier claimed that reservation for women in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) would go against their community's customary laws.
