The Silver Arrows reflect on three days in Bahrain
This last time last year we were asking whether Haas could build on their P8 finish in the 2022 constructors’ standings – the fact they go into 2024 with a new team principal might signal how that went. Quite simply it was a struggle for F1’s American team in 2023 as they propped up the constructor’s standings with just 12 points. Here’s everything you need to know about the squad as they hope for improved fortunes…
Ayao Komatsu has a big job on his hands. The Japanese engineer will this season take the helm of the Haas F1 Team, stepping up into the Team Principal role for the first time as a replacement for Guenther Steiner and tasked with pulling the American squad off the bottom of the constructors’ championship.
Haas have been causing shocks since they entered Formula 1 in 2016, from scoring a brilliant points-finish on their debut and taking a remarkable fifth in the constructors’ championship in only their third season to a shock pole in Sao Paulo in 2022.
2024 was just days old when news broke that Guenther Steiner – the unlikely star of Netflix’s F1 docuseries Drive to Survive – had parted ways with the Haas team he helped build from scratch and entered into Formula 1 in 2016, with Ayao Komatsu promoted to the role.
