Supermarkets doubt government's trade support service will be ready by end of Brexit transition

The UK’s largest supermarkets have told the government that they don’t believe its Trader Support Service will be working in time for the end of transition and have urged it to find another way to ensure they can supply their shops in Northern Ireland in the new year.
Every week Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, The Co-op and Iceland send tens of thousands of product lines across the Irish Sea from the British mainland. ....

Brexit: Amazon warns NI customers could face delays

Amazon has warned Northern Ireland customers they could face delays and unavailability of some products when the Irish Sea border starts operating.
Commercial goods entering NI from GB will need a customs declaration from January.
Amazon said due to additional requirements by UK customs authorities some deliveries to NI may take slightly longer than usual.
It said this could happen from 1 January 2021,
The government is working with delivery firms to find a way to minimise the impact of these changes.
It has already announced a series of measures to ease the introduction of the new sea border. ....

Scheme Launched To Support Businesses Moving Goods To Northern Ireland

HMRC launched a new UK Trader Scheme (UKTS) this week to support businesses moving goods from Great Britain to Northern Ireland from the start of next year.
Traders are being urged to consider whether they need to sign up to the scheme to ensure they don’t pay tariffs on the movement of goods into Northern Ireland from Great Britain where those goods can be shown to remain the UK’s customs territory.
Businesses can now apply for a UKTS authorisation, allowing them to self-declare goods not ‘at risk’ of moving on to the EU after entering Northern Ireland. This means they will not be subject to EU duties on goods being sold to or used by consumers after entering Northern Ireland from Great Britain, regardless of the outcome of the trade negotiations between the UK and the EU. ....
