Seven truths, and the greatest gift
As we think about the approach of Easter, regular contributor James Knight presents us with seven fundamental truths that he has discovered in the bible.
A friend of mine, a keen philosopher and atheist, asked me to state some truths that can be discovered by reading the Bible. In thinking about a response, I started thinking about what I consider to be the most profound truths I ve discovered from twenty years of reading scripture. I came up with a list of seven that I thought worth sharing.

I m going to state my seven by assuming, sine qua non, the basic assumptions and understanding that underpin the reality in which scripture operates - namely, that there are only two principal categories of reality: God and everything else. That everything that isn t God is part of creation, and nothing that is created is on the same qualitative level as God. That God is tri-aspectual: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. ....

Norwich domestic abuse programme shortlisted
A local domestic abuse project of the UK charity Spurgeons, Norwich Connect, was recently shortlisted for an Early Intervention Award.
Much of the domestic abuse work in the UK supports the survivor at the point when they leave the relationship. But survivors of abuse are saying they want earlier intervention, as well as more support for their children and help to recover and move on with their lives.

Norwich Connect seeks to address these gaps in Norwich. It also works with perpetrators to help them change their abusive behaviour – at least in cases where families are still together, the victim wants to stay in the relationship and where it is safe to do so. The project ensures that children have a voice in helping the family move forward and has developed a peer support network for survivors. ....

On Sunday youth worker Jamie Cutteridge and Canon Jutta Brueck from the With Community in Ditchingham led morning worship on Radio 4.
“With is a name which reminds us that we live this life with God, with one another, with ourselves, and with the planet,” said Jamie, one of the leaders of the With community.

He explained that With had been handed the lease to a large convent in Norfolk called All Hallows, which for 150 years has been a house of prayer, community and service owned by the Sisters of All Hallows. ....

Think about others rather than getting the needle
With vaccinations providing a way to help end the Covid-19 pandemic, Rev Andy Bryant addresses those who are not so sure about having the jab and asks them to consider other people as well as themselves.
I am not sure I should even be writing about this. I do not want to give them any more attention than they have already won for themselves. The truth is that the anti-vax brigade is a small (and shrinking) number despite the noise they make. Overwhelmingly most people are taking up the opportunity to be vaccinated against covid and truly thank God, it is already making a difference. ....
