ISLAMABAD: The first-ever shipment from Uzbekistan under the convention on the international transport of goods for traffic-in-transit across the border has reached Pakistan, commerce ministry said on Wednesday.
On May 11, a cargo vehicle with Uzbek licence plates crossed the Afghan transit route in two days and reached the Torkham checkpoint in Peshawar, according to the ministry of commerce. After the completion of customs clearance, the truck will reach the importer in Faisalabad.
The vehicle transports from Uzbekistan processed leather products (wet blue) for Pakistani leather factories.
“A new milestone has been achieved with the first-ever truck from Uzbekistan reaching Pakistan under the TIR Convention. This was the result of collaboration between the transport companies of the two sides,” Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Razak Dawood announced through ....

ISLAMABAD: After a delay of 30 months, the first-ever shipment under the Convention on the International Transport of Goods for traffic-in-transit of goods across the border has left for Uzbekistan from Pakistan via the Torkham border customs station.
Pakistan Customs processed the first-ever TIR consignment from Karachi at Torkham destined for Tashkent via Afghanistan. The consignment consisted of herbal medicines and after completion of all Customs formalities at Torkham it crossed into Afghanistan. ....

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Monday informed that first-ever shipment from Pakistan under Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) reached Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 48 hours from Torkham, Pakistan.
The adviser said that the long-term vision of the government for trade and economic relations with Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs) is that “we want to make Pakistan a hub for trade, transit and transshipment”.
Razak Dawood said that connectivity with trading partners is vital for viable trade relations. He said that the structure and efficiency connectivity networks enable access to markets and should be considered a facet of the trade competitiveness. ....

KARACHI:
In a first, Pakistan has dispatched a shipment to Uzbekistan under the Transport Internationaux Routier (TIR) agreement.
“Pakistan takes the first practical step to begin trade relations with Uzbekistan,” stated a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce on Friday.
“A milestone has been achieved in the history of Pakistan’s transit trade as Pakistan Customs processed the first-ever TIR consignment at Torkham on Thursday, which was destined for Tashkent (Uzbekistan) via Afghanistan.”
According to the statement, the consignment consisted of herbal medicines and it entered Afghanistan following the completion of all formalities of the Customs at Torkham border. ....
