Green initiative: Plantable seed rakhis enter markets with an aim to transform raksha bandhan traditions
Bakul Foundation, a voluntary organization in Bhubaneswar, has introduced plantable seed rakhis made from organic cotton thread for Raksha Bandhan. These innovative rakhis incorporate seeds of trees such as amaltas, purslane, basil, and beans, which can grow into trees if discarded. The foundation aims to promote a personal relationship with trees and address the issue of pollution caused by non-biodegradable rakhis. They are also encouraging schoolchildren to celebrate Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to trees, fostering a connection between individuals and nature.
