San Bernardino County health care workers should start getting vaccinated for the coronavirus this week, with the first doses of the vaccine expected today or tomorrow. Health officials said they expected 15,600 doses to start treating the 112,000 health care workers in the county. The Department of Public Health will receive the doses directly, then distribute them, starting with workers who have direct contact with COVID-19 patients. The initial shipment will serve 15,600 workers, who will then receive a second dose in 21 days. The vaccine comes as the number of people infected with COVID-19, hospitalized with it and in intensive care for it are all at record levels. Only 4.2% of ICU beds remain available Monday, more than a percentage point lower than the day before. California received more than 33,000 coronavirus vaccines Monday, slightly more than the number of new cases confirmed Monday.
