Involved in a fatal plane crash since the colgan air crash in buffalo which was five or six years ago. prior to that you have too go back to the plane crash in queens in november of 2001. a remarkable safety record in this country and it s because they apply the lessons learned to ensure we don t repeat those mistakes. and the colgan crash was because of sleep deprivation and not equipment failure. that s right. i want to go to wnbc s chris glorioso who just spoke to emergency responders. with the fire department official who told me that at this very moment the fire department is triaging with a few victims in this incident but they are suffering only from minor injuries and that is very good news. i can also tell you that just within the last couple of minutes we started to see a good number of fire equipment make it into the area where the runways ....

Wounded. and not counting the wounded of our families and the psychological effects of the trauma. what saddens me even more is that some of us was hit inside of the building. when we tried to get out or tried to help out other comrades, major hasan still continued to try to kill us. for me, i got hit twice inside the building, then when i exited outside the building he hit me again. he went back inside the building and then while they were triaging me on the ground he shot me again. and it really bothers me. because everyone as a uniform, we have a uniform not because we have to, because we want to. we are an all volunteer force. ....

the doctor and the other first responders quickly survey the scene. translator: the only thing we could see were faces staring at us. i had 140 faces staring at me. just the faces. and so begins the work of extricating the living and the dying. translator: the fire chief asked me to get vaseline from a hospital near where we were. rescue workers used vaseline to ease people apart so they could be pulled from the wreckage. translator: they did it with the first ones that were most compressed. when they unstuck the first ones, they were able to take out the rest from the sides and the roof. the team spends 2 1/2 hours triaging hundreds of victims. translator: they determine how many ambulances, how many ....

Ambulatory patients. they re injured, but they re doing pretty well. the yellow ones are for folks who are injured and need help, but they re not at risk of dying imminently. you can wait a little bit of time. the yellow in the middle, those patients can wait. they re not going to die any minute. the red ones are for the patients who they re really worried might not make it. and that s how they do their triage. it s really a simple and standard operating procedure. simple and brilliant. this is how you separate patients. you can see the activity in the yellow, but it doesn t appear to necessarily be a patient. guys, tell me in my ear. are these live pictures? no. i have been trying to watch the screen and sync as well, but i think i saw they were wrapped them up, which would tell me that at least hopefully those who had been injured inside this terminal are taken safely away. would that be correct? i would think so. if they re wrapping it up, that would seem to be a logical conclus ....

Good. but it s safe to say there will be people in each of the categories. hopefully, probably not so many critical. this last group, 18 people, is the healthiest yet again i don t have conditions for them at this time. so that s the recap of the day. i may have more information about the male/female breakdown, age ranges in an hour. hide be happy to do a final update at 8:00 if folks will be here for that. i don t believe we re expecting any more patients. do you know where the patients were prior to the wave was waiting prior to coming here? i don t know that. i believe collect with ems and the airport in the field the triaging, you know for most urgent to least. so there may have been a group of patients that could wait several hours while other patients were being transported. i would imagine they were being kard for in the field to some degree by paramedics but i don t ....
