Fire Marshal Jackielou Mozes has been with the Iona McGregor Fire District for 20 years. After a routine mammogram came back clear, she told her doctors about a lump that had formed in her breast.
“I was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer called Triple Negative and had to go through chemotherapy and surgery and radiation,” Mandy says. “That was a 17-month process.”

While breast cancer incidence is now considered lower among Black women, they face significantly poorer outcomes, often developing more aggressive triple-negative breast cancers at a younger age.
