The case pertains to collecting funds through extortion from contractors, coal traders and transporters in the Magadh Amrapali coal block area of Jharkhand. The attached assets included vehicles registered in the name of Ganjhu and his firm M/s Maa Gange Coal Trading Private Limited. ....
Ranchi: Jharkhand Police have carried out intensive operations in LWE-affected districts of the state leading to several encounters and arrests this year. Officials said nearly 70 operations have been carried out in Khunti district alone, resulting in the arrest of six PLFI members. Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar said, “The PLFI has weakened after its top commander Jiden Gudia was eliminated last December. However, a group led by Laka Pahan is still operational in the area bordering Chaibasa. Another Maoist group led by Anal is also active in the Chaibasa-Seraikela-Khunti- Ranchi junction.” Khunti Police also had an encounter with Laka Pahan’s group in February, in which four weapons and a large number of cartridges were seized. ....
Ranchi: Five members of the Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) were held on Friday for pasting Maoist posters at different locations of Ranchi district, including opposite Raj Bhawan near Ratu Road Chowk. On December 15, locals at Ratu Road woke up to the TSPC posters which batted for action against contractors and officials of the Central Coalfields Limited who allegedly threaten displaced people and mistreat them. Slogans against the state government were also found in some of the posters. It added that coal officials should ensure development of every displaced person or else people would chase them away. The TSPC also urged the people to speak up against exploitation, suppression , murder and rape and unite for securing their rights and jal, jungle and zameen. ....
