The Supreme Court in its recent judgment in ES Krishnamurthy vs. M/s. Bharath Hi-Tech Builders Private Limited has held that the NCLT cannot compel any party to settle a dispute.
While most ex-CECs said no one comes off as looking good from such a meeting, one disagreed.
Former Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurthy said there must be a national election fund where companies and individuals could make contributions. This could then be used by the Election Commission based on guidelines drawn by it in consultation with registered and recognised political parties so that even an ordinary poor man can stand for elections.
