The US Commerce Department has signed an accord with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to build the world's most advanced semiconductors at Arizona in Phoenix by the end of 2030, and has awarded $6.6 billion as a subsidy.
The preliminary CHIPS award is noteworthy for confirming that TSMC will not only build semiconductor fabrication facilities or “fabs” in the U.S., but also deploy its most advanced technology in development.
