THE peso and the stock market both dropped at the start of the trading week, falling back to the P56:$1 and 6,700 levels, respectively, in the absence of major catalysts.
The currency strengthened by 19-and-a-half centavos to P55.92 against the dollar, while the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) advanced by 84.24 points, or 1.27 percent, to 6,707.25 — its highest close since March 8, 2023's 6,711.49.
THE peso and the stock market capped the trading week with declines, the former weakening by 13 centavos to P55.97 against the dollar while the latter fell by 7.33 points, or 0.11 percent, to 6,503.54.
