Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has assigned portfolios to 12 members of the state cabinet, with the Mineral Resources, Excise, and General Administration Department remaining with Sai. Sharma will handle key departments such as Home and Jail, Panchayat and Rural Development, Technical Education and Employment, and Science and Technology.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday assigned portfolios, keeping Mineral Resources, Excise, and General Administration Department with himself while giving home to deputy CM Vijay Sharma.

The General Administration Department released a notice in the gazette stating that Sai will also be in charge of the ministries of Energy, Public Relations, Commercial Tax (Excise), and Transport in addition to any other departments that aren't explicitly assigned to any minister.

A week after the ruling Congress party gave its approval for the decision, T S Singh Deo was officially appointed as deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on Thursday. The state's General Administration Department issued a gazette notification in this regard, an official said here.

The Congress's move to appoint Chhattisgarh minister TS Singh Deo, locked in a turf war with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for months, as deputy CM appears to be an attempt to stem infighting in the state unit and prepare it for the year-end Assembly polls.
