Governor's intervention sought to speed up rules for Nagaland Lokayukta

Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): Two Naga social activists have urged the governor of Nagaland to intervene in the matter of framing rules for Nagaland Lokayukta without any further delay, to enable the office to function without any hindrances. In a representation to the governor dated July 16, the two activists Odi Jamir and T Yapang Lkr, stated that though the Nagaland Lokayukta office started functioning since the last three years and five months, no rules have been framed by the government of Nagaland with respect to the Nagaland Lokayukta office till date. Pointing out that it is imperative on the part of the government to frame rules of a new office before it starts functioning, the activists expressed surprise on how the state government has allowed the functioning of an ombudsman department without “rules” for such a long time. Naga lads win at national bodybuilding championship; felicitated on arrival

Our Reporter Dimapur, July 13(EMN): Two Naga lads, who won at the I Compete Natural (ICN) National Cup Bodybuilding Championship, held in New Delhi from July 9 to the 10th were felicitated upon their arrival at Dimapur Airport by the Nagaland Body Building and Fitness Association on Wednesday. Toshiakum Ozukum won first place in men’s classic physique (under-23) and men’s physique category (U-23), while Athrong Zeliang secured third place in street model category and second place in men’s physique (first timer category). During an interaction with media persons, Ozukum shared that he was nervous but once he got into the stage, he was determined ‘to give his best and not compare himself with anyone else’ and went on to win two gold medals. Nagaland spices sector faces challenges - Eastern Mirror

Two Naga women win award Our Reporter Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): Nagaland state faces challenges like high transportation cost, lack of processing units and poor marketing facility, said Director of Horticulture department, R Elithung Lotha, who spoke on the potential and prospects of spices sector in Nagaland during the recently concluded International Buyer Seller Meet and Spices Conclave for Northeastern Region at Guwahati. The two-day conclave organised by Spice Board of India concluded on July 1. Lotha said that other challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland were crop damage due to natural calamities, infestations resulting in decrease of crop yield, non-availability of good quality planting materials, lack of drying machinery resulting in poor quality products, and lack of facilities for proper packaging, labelling and branding of the product, according to an update. Naga wrestlers felicitated upon arrival - Eastern Mirror

Our Reporter Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): Two Naga wrestlers, Keduovilie Zumu and Nlumrai Hegwang, who won bronze medals in belt wrestling at the international sports festival “Pearl of Kyrgyzstan” at Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan arrived in Dimapur on Tuesday. Upon their arrival at Dimapur airport, various associations, family and friends received and felicitated the two medalists.  In the tournament, Hegwang participated in the under 80 kg category and Zumu in the 80+ kg category, representing the All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation (AITWPF). Speaking to journalists, Zumu acknowledged everyone who helped them morally, spiritually and financially in their journey.
