CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The Nueces County Medical Examiner s office has identified the victim of the deadly stabbing of the recent Vestal homicide.
The victim was Maria Diaz, 95. Her cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the chest, the medical examiner said.
A 33-year-old man charged with the homicide remains in jail under bonds totaling $1.5 million in connection with Diaz s death.
Jonathan Avery remains in Nueces County Jail after being charged with murder and aggravated assault charges.
Corpus Christi police report that Diaz was stabbed Feb. 14 in the 4500 block of Vestal.
A 65-year-old woman also involved was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuires in the incident.
