There are now eight areas in south Essex which have recorded three or fewer cases of coronavirus in the last seven days.
Covid cases are continuing to rise across the Basildon borough - just as we approach the relaxtion of rules over Christmas. The borough is flip-flopping between the second and third worst-hit spots and council bosses are now predicting a rise to “top” spot, potentially before the end of the week. In Basildon Central and Pipps Hill the total number of cases is 93 and that's up from 42 and a 82.4% increase. Vange and Pitsea saw a rise to 45 case and this jumped up from 15 and 50.0%. Over in Laindon Central the number of cases is now at 53 and this is up from 32 and 152.4%.
