Written by Chance Bond on January 25, 2021 After losing three in a row the Lady Warriors have won three in a row. Worland’s girls basketball team is 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Northwest Quad. The weekend for the Lady Warriors became a strong case for being one of the best 3A girls basketball teams in the state of Wyoming. After beating Powell on Friday night the Lady Warriors faced Lovell on Saturday night at Warrior Gymnasium. The Lovell Lady Bulldogs came into Saturdays game 5-3 having losses to Douglas, Wyoming’s number one ranked 3A girls basketball team. Lovell split with Rocky Mountain, Wyoming’s number one ranked 2A girls team. They also had a loss to Cody, Wyoming’s number four ranked 4A team. ....
Written by Chance Bond on January 23, 2021 The Lady Warriors get their second straight home win. This one was a Conference game against the Powell Lady Panthers. Powell came into the game with a 2-4 record with wins over Riverton and Shoshoni. Common opponents with the Lady Warriors were Cody and Rocky Mountain. The Lady Panthers lost to Cody 43-17 and play two verse Rocky Mountain 43-32 and 45-40. The Lady Panthers were last in the State of Wyoming 3A basketball in points per game with 36. The Lady Warriors are number four in 3A basketball in the State with averaging just under 50 points per game. ....
Written by Chance Bond on January 13, 2021 The Lady Warriors lose their third straight game. All the losses were against ranked teams and non were conference games. The 37-33 loss to Cody on Tuesday felt like one that got away. Worland finished the first period with an eight point lead and 9 points from Darla Hernandez. By the end of the first half Worland would have an eleven point lead over a 4-1 ranked 4A Cody Fillie team. The lead would shrink to seven at the end of the third period but the Lady Warriors seemed to be able to take on a fourth quarter run by the Fillies. ....
Written by Chance Bond on December 21, 2020 Traveling across Wyoming to play Torrington on Friday night and Burns on Saturday afternoon didn’t phase the Lady Warriors. Worland would start the weekend with the Torrington Lady Trailblazers. Torrington came into the game with a win over Thermopolis by 9 points, similar to the Lady Warriors 10 point win over the Lady Bobcats. Darla Hernandez would lead Worland in scoring against Torrington with 18 points. Tymberlynn Crippen had 16, and Sophmore Brooke Wright had 10 points. The story of the game was Denali Jones and her defense against Reece Halley ,who had 25 points in the game. No other Lady Blazer would have more than 7 points. Jones shut down all other scorers and held her own against Halley. The Lady Warriors would leave Torrington with a 48-44 win against a very good Torrington team. ....
Written by Chance Bond on December 16, 2020 The Lady Warriors start their season with a win over the Hot Springs County Lady Bobcats 60-50. Worland started it’s all Senior line-up. Darla Hernandez, Denali Jones, Ajaih Montoya, Tymberlynn Crippen, and Logan Yule. The Lady Bobcats leading scorer was Julie Johnson with 20 points driving the lane and putting Denali Jones in early foul trouble. Thermopolis would make 7 shots from the 3 point arch. Stretching the Lady Warriors defense. The first half showed to be a little different look for the Lady Warriors as Brooke Wright would substitute in for Denali Jones. Ajaih Montoya lead the team in scoring for the first half with 10 points. ....
