The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing on Umar Khalid's plea for bail in a case related to the northeast Delhi riots. The matter was deferred as Khalid's lawyer was not available. The Delhi High Court had previously rejected Khalid's bail plea, stating that the allegations against him were prima facie true and that his actions qualified as a "terrorist act" under the UAPA.
The top court clarified that the case has been adjourned multiple times and that it was granting the ‘last opportunity’ and posted the plea for hearing in the coming week.
